This scheme redevelops the site of the existing temporary accommodation unit at 66 Linden Grove and 1-2 Limes Walk to provide a residential block. A challenging site between Peckham and Nunhead, it will provide 27 new affordable homes, split between 20 flats and seven houses. These have been designed around an existing courtyard in an extremely constrained site, knitting into the existing estate while re-addressing the once negated street frontage.
Materials and massing have drawn their inspiration from their immediate context, looking at creating a close relationship between old and new. The existing landscape and courtyard have been enhanced to create a safe and pleasant space where residents can meet and children can play.
The proposed development widens the pavement on Limes Walk, reconfiguring the car parking bays. The designs includes a significant landscape upgrade to the existing internal courtyard to provide communal leisure and play spaces. This proposal also provides a single storey garden building for residents in the estate's allotment area.
