The KFC site lies in the Old Kent Road Opportunity Area, an area proposing significant regeneration, poised to deliver 20,000 new homes and 10,000 new jobs over the next 10-20 years.
The development proposal is for a student housing led scheme, which diversifies the mix of uses in the area and significantly improves the public realm to create green links across the site.
The development proposals is for: 267 new student bedrooms, 10% of which are WCH accessible, a “Pocket Park” to the north of the site for the use of the local community and residents, communal indoor and outdoor amenity space for student residents, over 250 sqm of flexible commercial space at the ground floor fronting onto Old Kent Road, Cycle and refuse storage, high quality public realm and landscaping.
The typical floor plate is designed with 3 cluster flats which are all provided with a shared kitchen dining room. Each floor also offers studio bedrooms, with their own kitchen facilities.
